Solo artist Derek Knott’s songs are like little prayers- little secular prayers. That’s not to say there isn’t plenty of soul and spirituality in his acoustically rooted music. Even the laid back tunes smile warmly and swing sweetly.” -Rochester’s City Newspaper

After a stint touring with Grammy-winner Joanne Shenandoah  and famous Texas fiddle player Eric Hokkanen, Knott opted for solo performance and started touring the northeast. People took notice. Judy Dyble, British folk legend and member of Fairport Convention, called his songs “brilliant.” Others have remarked on his “subtle, incisive lyrics, soothing singing and guitar playing.” – Acoustic Café

Derek combines his years of experience as a guitarist and writer to create songs that bridge gaps – British singer -songwriter pop  with Doc Watson flavored Americana, classic radio hooks with lyrical poetry, modern folk songs about post millennial life all can relate to. Just ask people at one of his live performances what they think…
