Dad Rock Weekends!

Dad Rock Weekends

An Annual Spring Cleanup

At The “G” Lodge - 81 Keller Rd. Hannibal, NY 13074

MUSIC - FOOD - FRIENDS - PROJECTS - MASSAGE

We’ll be out there for TWO FULL WEEKS! From May 10th until May 24th

Dad says,

“Come for a day, for a night, the weekend, or the whole dang thing!”

-Me, Gabi, that’s right, I’m your dad now

We’ve got the projects mapped out into 5 segments though circumstances will most certainly arise which will cause us to shift things, and people are always coming up with new and exciting ideas that we tend to like to enact on the spot! So let’s look at this as more of an outline!

I’d also like to make note that there will always be projects available for people of all strengths, sizes and skillsets. We will absolutely find something that you can help out with. Even if it’s making dinner or doing the dishes. We really need all hands on deck for this!

Prepping for Dad Rock! May 10th - May 12th

Bring Your Own Chainsaw! - Led by Danny Mills

This first week is mainly going to be for cutting down dead trees & trees we plan to mill as well as clearing off brush and fallen trees in the woods.

This week is really important for the two weekends, as we need these trees to create planks for siding on the ticket booth, the shed that never got siding last season, the Lodge Stage and boards and planks for all sorts of other projects.

We will also be using any trees that can't be milled to make firewood. This week will be labor intensive and dirty but it's also gonna be a hell of a good time.

Work Hard, Play Hard my friends. Anticipate RAGING bonfires each night, a full belly and more Dad Jokes than your heart can bare.

Weekend #1 May 13th - May 15th

Waste & Compost Infrastructure - Our goal here will be setting up waste sites, with uniform: trash, recycling, redeemable, compost and butt containers. So we plan to paint and label all of the barrels that we have on site and install them in different areas around the property. We also need to make informational signs explaining what goes in where to be installed next to each site. Dove Dreddy is already working on stencils for us to use but I could use a project lead on this one still!

Things that can be donated: 55 Gallon trash bags (Clear & Black), Large tin cans for butts, paints (black, gold, green, white, clear coat), nails and screws, your time

Garden & Compost Expansion - Led by Sean Kinney & Chris Davenport - Instead of just having the garden beds fenced in, we’re going to be fencing in that whole little plot of land there, including the compost bays. We are planning to expand and reconfigure the compost area to accommodate more food waste as we expand our composting program. We also plan to add a new walkway into the area from the stage viewing area as well as a little gate. We hope to double the amount of garden beds that we already have. And plant, plant, plant! Please bring your seedlings and anything else you’d like to contribute to this project as it seems to have a TON of interest and I’m sure we’ll be making a ton of progress!

Things that can be donated: Plants, seeds, flowers, fertilizer, soil, your time

Siding the Ticket Booth & Shed - We’ll be taking all the wood siding that Steve “The Machine” comes to help us mill and we’ll be using it to side the ticket booth, the shed without walls and the bottom half of the main stage!

Things that can be donated: Nails, screws, brackets, knowledge, your time.

Music provided 8:30pm - Midnight on Friday & Saturday

May 13th - Definitely Not Aliens Members include Tim Braley, Matt Herrmann, Dylan Bloom & Brian Elam

May 14th - Our Friends Band / Campfire Jams

The In-Between - May 16th - 19th

Communal Kitchen Build-Out - Led by ME, your host, Gabi Gauger! - Where the Carnival For a Cause once was, we’ve build out a bit of a fireside. I am hoping to transform two of the stalls into a communal kitchen with sink for all of our campers to use.

Tent Repair & Erection - We have a 20x30 ft party tent that got pretty beat up over the winter and a mildewy glamping tent from last season that both need to be cleaned and repaired. This is a good task for anyone with some cleaning & sewing capabilities. Please bring heavy duty thread and sewing kits!

I am also hoping to use this time to wrap up any projects that slipped through our fingers the first weekend as well as any small projects that the volunteers want around the property. Maybe you want to install a piece of art somewhere

Weekend #2 - May 20th - 22nd

Volleyball Court - I am having the new sand delivered for the volley ball court on Wednesday the 11th, so if it hasn’t been gotten to yet, we’ll need to have it all raked out and the boundary lines measured and roped off. We will also need the boundaries staked out and perhaps some new form of fencing to stop the ball from going in the pond. Last year's fencing didn't hold up so well, unfortunately.

Things that can be donated: fencing, time, labor, cash monies for the sand

Fire Rings - We’ve gotta pull and set up all the fire rings around the property for the season

Things that can be donated: Time, labor, new fire rings

Staining the Deck - We will be staining the deck and the entire main stage and pavilion! This is a pretty simple and skill-less task that doesn’t require any muscle, really and will be available to folks of all ability!

Things that can be donated: Exterior wood stain (shade TBD) - brushes, time, cash monies for stain.

Music provided 8:30pm - Midnight on Friday & Saturday

May 20th - Zack Rabbet Futt / Damdog

May 21st - Second Guess Members include Ragechill, Dree & Chaz

Week #2 - May 23rd & 24th

Volunteer’s Choice - I'd like to do a project that YOU GUYS choose! What do you think the lodge needs? Is there something you think we're missing? What do you want to see here? Feel free to contact me with your ideas, none are too big or small. We will try to do one LARGE project and a handful or smaller project. I will continue to update this event as we make decisions.

Things you can donate: your ideas, yours skills, your knowledge, your time, some extra cash to make this a successful weekend with everything we all need.

We are seeking monetary donations for this whole endeavor. Donations will help pay for food, massage and entertainment for our volunteers as well as other building and project supplies. We will also be accepting donations in the form of building materials, meals prepared, beverages, musical entertainment or anything else you think might be helpful for our hard-working friends! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

Monetary donations can be sent to me:
