Electric Tie Dye graces the Photo City stage LATE NIGHT Saturday, February 17th at FOLK City: A Benefit for REACH.
Electric Tie Dye is comprised of three Western NY natives with a mutual appreciation for Americana and originality in music. On stage, the parallels of their musical tastes are on full display as members Chuck Friez, Anson Stiles, and Ben Chilbert electrify their acoustic instruments and proceed naturally to weave in and out of the ether found within today’s folk music.
While the earthy yet unique soundscape this trio creates by electrifying upright bass, banjo and washboard tie may define the band to some, their musical journey starts with concise songwriting inspired by many diverse types of folk music found around the globe. With this in mind, their goal is to explore the roots of world sound and turn it around to provide a fresh and broad outlook through their own “Plutonium Powered Folk Music”
