Eric Carlin & Josh Massicot at FOLK City

Catch Eric Carlin & Josh Massicot of The Flood at FOLK City at Photo City: A Benefit for REACH Friday, February 16th from 6:45pm-7:45pm.

Eric Carlin and Josh Massicot are musicians based in Rochester, New York. They are colleagues at Nazareth College and founding members of the original Americana/Rock band, The Flood.

Growing up in the small town of Hornell, NY, Eric Carlin became obsessed with music at a young age. After spending countless hours trying to press down basic chords, he expanded his musical interests to include blues, country, rock, and a love for classical guitar that led to degrees from Mansfield University and the Eastman School of Music. A well-known performer in Western New York, Carlin writes, plays and sings songs about his experiences as a musician, husband, and father to a beautiful young boy.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Josh Massicot has been playing piano since he could reach the keys. A love of classical music led him to pursue degrees at the Eastman School of Music. Getting married to a musician and working with students and colleagues like Eric have convinced him that it’s alright to stay. Massicot’s roots – musically and culturally – influence his playing, singing, and writing. He strives to pen songs that tell stories that we can all relate to, even if they tend to be set on oil rigs, truck stops, and parishes no one visits.

The Flood

The Flood is an original Americana/Rock band based in Rochester, New York. Its members include Eric Carlin (guitar/vocals), Josh Massicot (keyboard/vocals), Matt Bevan-Perkins (drums), and Justin Rister (bass/vocals).

Embracing the diverse musical interests and backgrounds of its members, The Flood strives to create original music that is as immediately identifiable as it is interesting. A typical set might include close-knit vocal harmony, funk-driven grooves, straight guitar rock, gospel inflections, and mixed meter psychedelic-inspired jams. Through of all that musical exploration, the band is grounded in the writing and crafting of its songs: tunes that speak earnestly, personably, and that tell stories that invite listeners to get to know where we’re coming from.
